In recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, Catawba Valley Community College’s Information Systems Security Club will present two free sessions on “Staying Safe in the Cyber World.”
On Tues., Oct. 22, at 6 p.m., a session will be held at the CVCC Alexander Center for Education in Taylorsville.
A second session will be held at the CVCC Main Campus in Hickory on Tues., Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. in Room 276 of the Robert E. Paap Bldg.
Both sessions are free and open to the public.
Parents, teachers and students are invited to learn more about safety measures to take while surfing the Web. Topics include how to create strong passwords, how to deal with popups, risks of opening attachments and software updates, the risks of public wi-fi, safety issues with email and instant messaging and free online tools.
