Catawba Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Innovation Center will be offering “Furniture Fundamentals,” a new furniture program designed to prepare individuals for a career in the furniture industry Monday through Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning January 6 through March 10 at CVCC’s Corporate Development Center.
“Furniture Fundamentals” is a collaboration with local furniture companies, offering a thorough overview of the furniture manufacturing process and provides career specifics on different furniture specialties. The course includes plant tours, career previews and assessments to help students determine their career options.
Participants will earn continuing education hours and receive a certificate upon completion of the program; Scholarships may be available for those who qualify.
This program was customized to meet the needs of the local furniture industry. Companies that partnered in developing the program include Century Furniture, Hickory Chair, Lee Industries, Lexington Home Brands, Sherrill Furniture, and Vanguard Furniture.
