CVCC student Jonathan Elliott has been selected to attend the North Carolina Community College System Student Leadership Development Program. Only 30 students are selected each year to participate in the prestigious program that is designed to expand the community college education beyond academic and into awareness of “real world” demands.

Initial training takes place in June at William Peace University in Raleigh, followed by two-day mini-sessions next fall and spring. In turn, students take their knowledge back to their campuses and share with their fellow students.
Enrolled in the Advertising and Graphic Design associate degree program, Elliott will graduate in 2015. He also earned an associate degree in Photographic Technology at CVCC in 2013. Elliott is also president of CVCC’s Graphic Art and Design Club. He was on the High Honors List and is a member of the Student Leadership Academy.
This semester, he is interning with the Education Matters office, a partnership between CVCC, business, government and public education to increase the value of education and educational attainment in Catawba County. After graduation, Elliott hopes to attend film school. Ultimately, he wants to use his education and experience to work in the film industry creating title sequences. He and his wife, Brandi, live in Hickory.
