NC State Employees’ Credit Union Foundation Announce Scholarships

SECU Con Ed Scholarships '14.jpgThe North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) Foundation recently presented Continuing Education Scholarships to 10 Catawba Valley Community College students.

The $750 scholarships are part of a statewide initiative to meet the needs of the state’s unemployed and underemployed citizens. Recipients may also be a military veteran or member of the North Carolina National Guard. Short-term job training to develop new careers or retrain to advance current job skills are provided through the N.C. Community College System.

Scholarship recipients pursuing occupational credentials as a certified nurse assistant include Jenny Cantrell of Hickory, Chelsia Murrell of Hickory, Dawn Balthis of Hickory, Kaitlyn Barber of Hickory, Margrita Baker of Hickory, Donna Archer of Sherrills Ford, Nathan Fulbright of Newton, and Heather Randles of Hickory. Recipients Mark Lawing of Maiden and Perry Miller of Maiden are pursuing certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer.
