The free online training program helps students and entrepreneurs gain real-life IT and business skills needed to start or grow a business.
CVCC’s chapter recruited 355 people, including students, faculty and staff, to register for the online, interactive program. The students’ efforts resulted in earning $605 toward the SkillsUSA chapter’s travel expenses to attend next year’s state conference.
CVCC’s SkillsUSA chapter provides high-performance students the opportunity to match their skills against their peers in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, character development, and discipline specific competition. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills. SkillsUSA also promotes understanding of the free-enterprise system and involvement in community service. The chapter has won numerous competitions at the national level, including 2014 Outstanding Chapter, Outstanding Entrepreneurship Team, second place in the individual cosmetology competition, and second place in the individual photography competition.
