Students in Ashley Brown’s Social Problems classes at Catawba Valley Community College recently participated in a service learning project focused on helping children within the community. School supplies, snacks and winter clothing were collected and distributed among students at three area elementary schools.

Students also collected more than 75 cans of food that was donated to the Corner Table in Newton and the CVCC Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry for students. Dental hygiene faculty and students, along with Challenger Early College High School students contributed the most items to the project.
