Mission to the Edge of Space: Engineering Club Information Session Thurs., January 22

Weather Balloon ArtworkJoin Jim Thomas, Engineering Technologies Department Head, on Thurs., Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. in the Engineering Building, Room 617 as he discusses the possibilities of starting the CVCC Engineering Technologies Club.

He will also discuss the club’s first project, a high altitude balloon payload design project and the “NC Community College High Altitude Balloon Competition” sponsored by North Carolina Space Grant and NASA. 

Everyone is welcome to participate in this club. For the first project, members will design, engineer, test, fly and recover an experiment from a helium weather balloon 20 miles up in space.

Members will also receive information concerning participation in the SkillsUSA competition in the Engineering category.
