CVCC Offers NCWorks Job-Driven Initiative Information Session

CVCC Business and Industry LogoCatawba Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Innovation Center will offer a NCWorks Job-Driven Initiative Information Session on Tues., Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at CVCC’s Corporate Development Center, Room 109B.

The NCWorks Job-Driven Initiative provides grants for pre-employment training for specific entry-level technical jobs. Training will be focused on skill competencies that lead to industry-recognized or state-regulated credentials.

This grant program can pay for registration fees, certification exam fees, books and supplies. All grant participants will earn the NC CRC (Career Readiness Certificate) as well as other class-specific certificates and credentials.

Grant applicants must be unemployed jobseekers who:

  • Have been unemployed
  • Have exhausted Unemployment Insurance Benefits or
  • Are foreign-trained immigrant workers who qualify as dislocated workers and have faced barriers to obtaining employment in their trained field or profession

The NCWorks Job-Driven Initiative grant is made possible by the NC Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) which was awarded a US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration National Emergency Grant (NEG). The grant provides funds to states to implement new or expanded local and regional job-driven partnerships that will serve more dislocated workers and achieve better employment-related outcomes for this group of workers.

The CVCC Corporate Development Center is located at 2664 Hwy. 70 SE in Hickory, NC.
