CVCC Foundation Received Gift in Honor of Math Department Faculty Member

Foundation-Stribling Donation to Math Department in Honor of Ken Mann Image

The CVCC Foundation, Inc., recently received a financial gift in support of the Mathematics Department from Alissa Stribling of Arlington, Va., in honor of mathematics faculty member Kenneth Mann. Alissa Stribling of Arlington, Va., recently pledged $1,000 to the CVCC Foundation, Inc. for the CVCC Math Department in honor of CVCC mathematics faculty member Kenneth Mann.

Mann attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., where he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics. Mann served as Stribling’s tutor while she completed a master’s degree in business administration at Old Dominion.

To date, Stribling’s gift has been used to sponsor CVCC’s annual student Math Award in the amount of $500. The gift was also used to purchase $250 worth of calculators for students.

Mann joined the CVCC mathematics faculty in 2002 and has been involved in planning and running the annual CVCC Math Tournament and offering free student math help sessions. He founded the CVCC Chess Club and is an advisor for the Ambassadors for Christ student club.
