CVCC Automotive Program Receives National Reaccreditation

NATEF Reaccreditation 2016 ImageThe Automotive System Technology program at Catawba Valley Community College recently earned reaccreditation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF).

CVCC’s automotive program earned its initial NATEF accreditation in 2006 and has earned reaccreditation in the following level: Master Automobile Service Technology.

To achieve this coveted recognition, the school’s automotive training program underwent rigorous evaluation by NATEF. Nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities and equipment were used.

“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said Donald Seyfer, former NATEF Chair. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that CVCC’s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by CVCC, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the work force.”

Upon completion of the evaluation, CVCC became reaccredited by NATEF, which is a non-profit, independent organization that evaluates and accredits entry-level technician training programs against standards developed by the automotive industry.

Eddie Roane, CVCC’s Automotive Systems Technologies Program Director added, “During the past several months, we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain that our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted to be a part of the NATEF accredited training programs. Students will be assured of a quality education, and shop owners will be assured of getting quality job applicants.”

Gary Muller, CVCC’s Dean of the School of Business, Industry, and Technology, said, “Our Automotive Program continues to grow stronger under the leadership of Eddie Roane and his team and we are very pleased that their efforts are being recognized. We look forward to the future of our program with a great deal of excitement.”
