CVCC Student Veteran’s Club Honors Veterans Through Flag Sale

cvcc-veterans-day-flags-2015Catawba Valley Community College’s Student Veteran’s Club is holding a fundraiser again this year to support its self-sustaining club.

Club members and advisors are selling placement of 24” flags in honor or memory of a named veteran for $1 each. The flags will be placed on the college’s front lawn along US Hwy. 70 the week of Veteran’s Day to show support for all veterans in the greater Hickory area.

“We hope to exceed last year’s total of 1,000 flags,” said Veteran’s Affairs Coordinator and Veteran’s Club Advisor Elen Gibbs. “The goal is to blanket the front lawn like we did last year to show our respect and appreciation for veterans’ service to our country.”

Sales will take place on campus for students, faculty and staff starting Nov. 1. Members of the community are encouraged to honor or memorialize a veteran by contacting Gibbs at 828-327-7000, ext. 4205.
